Welcome to the Sustainable Solar Home website! This site showcases our Eco-friendly Sustainable Solar Home (SSH) construction process. The purpose of this site is to help you get the most out of the natural resources that this planet has to offer, including earth, rain, wind, and especially the sun, so that you can build and live sustainably off grid. Natural and green building do-it-yourself (DIY) strategies are outlined, including the use of sustainable materials and reclaimed resources, renewable energy (including solar energy and solar panels), thermal mass based passive solar design principles, and sustainable living practices. Our goal is to share home construction principles that are simple, cost effective and DIY friendly, while at the same time allowing you to create a beautiful, healthy, durable, and sustainably functioning home. Living in such a net zero home will allow you to maximize your freedom and independence by basically eliminating your monthly utility expenses.
